Visa information

Participants from countries outside the Schengen Area may require a visa to enter Italy.

We strongly recommend that international participants check visa requirements well in advance of their travel and apply as early as possible, if necessary.

How to reach Padova

The School of Psychology is located at Via Venezia 12, in the city of Padova. You can use Google Maps to navigate Padova.

FROM THE AIRPORT…

All airports are connected to Padova. You can choose to travel by car, train, bus. There is also the Shuttle Service:

  • GoOpti: For a shared or private door-to-door transfer from any major airport directly to your address in Padova.

Venice Airport “Marco Polo” (VCE)

  • Bus: Direct service to Padova's train station (Piazzale Stazione). Schedule & Tickets
  • Car: Take A4 highway westbound (towards Milano/Padova) and exit at Padova Est. Follow signs for "Padova Centro" or "Fiera" to reach Via Venezia. (~35 min).

Milan Airport “Malpensa” (MXP)

  • Train: Take the Malpensa Express to Milano Centrale, then a high-speed train (Frecciarossa or Italo) to Padova. (~3 hours).
  • Bus: Direct service via FlixBus or Itabus from Terminal 1 & 2 to Padova Station. (~4 hours).
  • Car: Take A4 highway eastbound (towards Venezia) and exit at Padova Est. (~2h 45m).

Other Nearby Airports (European flights only)

  • Treviso (TSF): ~40 min from Padova. Mostly low-cost carriers (Ryanair).
  • Bologna (BLQ): ~1 hour from Padova. Convenient high-speed train connections.

FROM PADOVA TRAIN STATION…

The School of Psychology is within walking distance from the train station of Padova. You can use public transport or walk.

  • You might take a bus. Walk to the bus stops located just outside the train station. Take a city bus heading toward Via Tommaseo / Via Venezia (commonly served by urban lines such as 3, 7, 10, or 18, depending on the time of day). Get off at a stop near Via Tommaseo or Via Venezia (for example bus stop Via Venezia/Università). From there, it is a short walk to the University.

The total travel time by bus, including walking, is approximately 10–15 minutes.

  • On foot, exit the train station and head toward Corso del Popolo. Walk straight along Corso del Popolo until you reach Via Niccolò Tommaseo. Continue along Via Tommaseo for several minutes. When you reach Via Venezia, turn right and continue until you arrive at number 12.

The walk is approximately 1 km and takes about 20–25 minutes.

  • You might also take the Tram line in the direction of the Capolinea Sud. Get off at Riviera Ponti Romani. Walk toward the city center along Riviera dei Ponti Romani. Continue straight until you reach Corso Garibaldi / Piazza Garibaldi. From there, continue onto Via Niccolò Tommaseo and walk straight for several minutes. When you reach Via Venezia, turn right and continue until you reach number 12.

FROM THE HIGHWAY…

We recommend taking the exit Padova Ovest, parking at the P1 (ex-Canova) car park located in Via Sarpi, and taking the tram from the train station. There are limited free parking possibilities in the streets north of the venue. For other possibilities, please visit the car parking information page of the City of Padova.


Public Transport in Padova

Public Transport costs

The urban daily ticket for buses and the tram costs €3.60 and allows unlimited travel for the entire day. To get from the Padova station to the psychology department, you can buy a 90-minute ticket for €1.70.

Where to buy:

  • Ticket machines (e.g. at Padova Train Station)
  • BusItalia Veneto app
  • Authorized retailers (tobacco shops, newsstands, etc.)

Contactless option:

You can pay directly on board using a contactless card and benefit from the daily fare cap after multiple trips.

Validity:

The ticket is valid from 00:00 to 23:59 on the day of activation. Remember to validate your ticket before boarding.

Taxi

Taxis in Padova are available throughout the city and can be used for quick, direct travel, especially if public transport is limited.

How to get a taxi:

  • Taxi stands: located at major points such as Padova Train Station, Prato della Valle and Piazza Garibaldi.
  • Phone booking: call a local taxi company to arrange pick-up
  • Taxi apps: some services allow booking via smartphone apps.

Bike sharing:

Padova offers a "free-flow" bike sharing service operated by RideMovi, with hundreds of traditional and e-bikes available 24/7.

  • How it works: Download the RideMovi app (App Store / Google Play), locate a bike on the map, and scan the QR code to unlock it.
  • Parking: You can park the bike anywhere within the designated operational area shown in the app.
  • Cost: Pay-as-you-go or purchase a "Pass" for multiple rides.

Tip: For electric scooters, you can also use the Bit Mobility app available throughout the city.
