Jo-Anne LeFevre

Jo-Anne LeFevre is a Professor of Cognitive Science and Psychology at Carleton University [https://carleton.ca/cacr/math-lab/] in Ottawa, Canada. She has been doing research on Mathematical Cognition for over 30 years. As Secretary of the MCLS, she is responsible for organizing meetings of the Board of Governors and the Officers, for updating and maintaining records of membership, and for various other tasks that support the Society. Currently, her research is focused on exploring the role of language in mathematics, in particular for children learning a second language, and on the development of symbolic processing in early number learning; she also continues a long-standing program of research on the memory processes involved in mental arithmetic. She is on the editorial board of the Journal of Numerical Cognition, the Journal of Experimental Child Psychology, and the Canadian Journal of Experimental Psychology.
