Edward Hubbard is an Assistant Professor of Educational Psychology and the Neuroscience Training Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His work uses behavioral and neuroimaging (especially fMRI) methods to explore the cognitive and neural mechanisms that support numerical cognition in children and adults. He has specifically focused on links between spatial representations and numerical skills, including the mental number line (SNARC effect) and non-symbolic representations that support fractions understanding. His recent work has been funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH). As the Membership Coordinator for MCLS, he is responsible for helping current members with membership questions, helping to recruit new members, and managing MCLS-related social media accounts (e.g., Facebook, Twitter). He is excited to be part of the Board of the MCLS, as he feels that it fills a vital need in the mathematical cognition community, bridging diverse communities of researchers who share a common interest in numerical and mathematical cognition.
